Students will be involved in developing and building the gardens, irrigation systems and marketing of products. Students from science, math and social studies classes will be participating.
The project includes raised gardening beds used for fruits, vegetables, and row crops with the use of drip irrigation. Crops will be used by students to share with the Food Bank and community members that help in the production.
A second aspect of the project is the greenhouse. Students will prepare soil mixtures, raise flowers, ground cover and vegetables to be used around the school.
Partners include Woodland High, African American Association, Home Depot, Glunz Electric, Woodland Tree Foundation, Monsanto Vegetable, Cal West Seeds, Agriform, Westside Transplants, Yolo County Farm Advisor and many retired experts in agricultural fields. |
